Video for marketplace listings

Most listings leave the video slot empty. Filling it is the cheapest way to stand out on the same search page, as long as the file fits each marketplace's rules.

Etsy 5 to 15 s

Etsy listing video plays muted in the first slots: 5 to 15 seconds, up to 2 videos, 100 MB.

eBay: 1 video

One video per listing, up to 150 MB, MP4 H.264, no variation listings, no YouTube links (eBay Help).

Shopify 10 min

Up to 10 minutes, 4K, under 1 GB; MP4, MOV or WEBM, plus YouTube and Vimeo embeds.

Platform by platform

Do
  • Amazon: use the video slot among the listing media where your category allows it; show the product in use
  • Etsy: 5 to 15 seconds that make sense without sound: the product turning, in use, a detail
  • Shopify: a short loop near the top of the product page; check your theme shows video
  • eBay: upload the MP4 from a web browser, one per listing, reusable across listings
Avoid
  • Video on an eBay listing with variations: not supported
  • Links to YouTube on eBay: the file must be uploaded
  • Files over the cap: 100 MB on Etsy, 150 MB on eBay, 1 GB on Shopify

Measure it yourself

No marketplace publishes a verified lift from listing video. Compare add-to-cart rate and time on page for listings with and without video over the same period, and keep video on the listings where it wins.

Questions

Do I need a separate video for each marketplace?

No. Make one CartViral clip and export it: CartViral re-cuts it to each marketplace's shape and length.

Can the same clip go to social and to the listing?

Yes. Post the vertical clip on TikTok and Reels and export the listing version for the marketplace.
