What TikTok Shop allows with AI (updated 2 September 2026)
TikTok Shop's policy allows AI content that stays truthful. Allowed uses include visual styles and effects, editing and quality improvement, translation, dubbing and subtitles, copywriting and script support, and product demonstrations, as long as the information is factual and the product is shown correctly.
- Label it. Disclose AI use with on-screen text or a watermark, or turn on the "AI-generated content" toggle, which shows "Disclosed by creator as AI-generated".
- Don't change the product. Altering size, color, material or features is banned, and so is showing exaggerated effects such as unrealistic cleaning or instant results.
- No fake experts or fake people. Fabricated professional personas (for example a fake doctor endorsing a health product) and impersonation are banned. Health products get extra scrutiny.
Brand programs outside TikTok Shop follow the platform's general AI-label rules and the advertising law of the viewer's country.
The honesty rule that matters most for faceless accounts
In the US, an endorsement has to reflect the endorser's honest opinion or experience, and if a post says or implies "I use this", the endorser has to be a real user (16 CFR 255.1). So a faceless account made from product photos should show and describe the product ("this rug is machine washable", "3 ways to style this ring") and not invent a personal story ("I've used this for a month"). Add #ad or the platform's paid-partnership label as well.
